Calling Jenna Ellis to Repent

Today, Jenna Ellis posted the following on X:

It’s beyond comprehension that a Calvinist would look at this beautiful child and think it’s biblically accurate to say, “It’s quite possible God created you for destruction.”That is the end result of their reasoning.

I wrote the following, calling her to repent:

I’m a Calvinist, I’m 25, and I’ve suffered 3 miscarriages. The fact that Jenna Ellis is using my children to attack my theology is beyond disgusting. It’s sin. It’s slander, it hurts, and her words are totally devoid of compassion. I publicly call her to repent of this comment.

Historically, Calvinists have been the most ardent defenders of Christ’s care for infants.

We are not untouched by the death of our children. The pain cuts deep. And to see this slander thrown at all Calvinists is inexcusable, though it is excused as “the end result of [our] reasoning.” This tweet is pastorally insensitive and cruel.

Jenna’s tweet is an emotional appeal, not an argument from Scripture. It is manipulative, and ignores that Calvinists too suffer the lose of their children, and ground their hope in convictions arrived at from Scripture.

By all means, debate the theology. But this is not the way. This is entirely destructive to the church and its unity. Statements like these leave no path open for reconciliation. Therefore, I call her to repent.
