The Failure of Welfare

What should we do? One charity leader said, “The important thing to remember is that we must get involved in some way—any way.” But what if many points of light are actually points of darkness? If we have a cabinet full of medicine bottles, do we recommend dipping randomly into any of them? Aren’t there usually warning labels, or at least suggestions that we take certain pills with food or milk?

~ The Tragedy of American Compassion, by Marvin Olasky, p. 4

Now that SNAP benefits are ending, and people are threatening to steal and revolt, I wanted to have my say.

The welfare state is the deadliest demonic ideology dressed in light in our modern age. It has destroyed compassion in Western culture, eliminated the role of the church in charity, plunged the United States into a racially defined class war, and keeps millions of souls in the comfortable embrace of thievery. It is a deadly sickness in the body of our culture, and the diagnosis looks increasingly terminal. It sucks dry millions of people of their honour, self-respect, individuality, liberty, and decency.

Oppose the welfare state, and as far as possible, partake in true compassion. For those who do not agree or understand our peril, all I can do is urge you to humble yourself and ground yourself in reality. Below are the resources I recommend exploring:

This short video will give you a snapshot of my view: Socialism Is Immoral

On this page, you can find the next two resources I recommend, plus a plethora of other videos, documents, and book recommendations.

Biblical Economics, written by myself, is the first link at the top of the page. It is a Christian attempt to reform in our minds a Christian economics.

The first video on the same page is titled “Free To Choose – Milton Friedman on The Welfare System (1978) | Thomas Sowell.” It is well worth taking the time to watch it.

Joel Berry:

With SNAP running out, we have an opportunity to break the country of this corrupt addiction.

Imagine if we saw churches, charities, and individuals step up and help their neighbors. Imagine if this country realized we actually can take care of each other without government.

  1. Thanks for this Noah. I hope that the church is going to shine brightly as a beacon of hope and light and help as people realise the government is not the Saviour. It’s a moment of real opportunity for us to hold out the love of Christ.
