The following are reviews of short videos on Artificial Intelligence by FOCL from Angus Menuge.
In what ways does artificial intelligence possess intelligence?
In this first video, Angus gives a helpful illustration to understand in what way AI can be considered “intelligent.” He says that a radio can let you here the voices of extremely smart people. That does not mean that the radio is intelligent. It’s just the medium for that information. Just so, AI isn’t intelligent of its own accord. AI’s can simulate intelligence.

What are the enduring differences between artificial and human intelligence?
Angus makes a clear, central point: Human beings understand what they are thinking about, and understands what the input and the output mean. An AI computes, but does not understand. It cannot understand meaning; it can only recognize and utilize patterns. It can transfer data, but unlike humans, it doesn’t know what it means – it only sees the patterns.
What is artificial intelligence and how has it progressed?
In this video, Menuge describes some important differences between types of AIs and potential AIs, and how those do differ and could potentially threaten or enhance human intelligence.
