WARNING: bad language and sensitive content
It is amazing to watch those opposed to Trump respond after the assassination attempt.
“Trump, of course, is obviously an existential threat to our democracy.” This has been preached by Biden, his administration, and by the rest of the Democrats for years. It’s their main point against Trump.
After July 13th, many Democrats said many oh so nice things, and gave many well wishes.[1] Then there were many criticism of Trump’s “fight, fight, fight!” statement immediately after he was shot. [2] And a lot of criticism of the rhetoric of those on the right.
And yet, what was obviously lacking was any acknowledgement that THEY, by their own standard, shared the blame in this event. They had no problem blaming Trump and his rhetoric for the attempt made on his own life, of course.[3] But when it came to their own side, and to the rhetoric of Biden (which he wouldn’t apologize for in his post-assassination attempt speeches and interviews [6]), only one voice rang out over CNN:
Nigel Farage, a Trump-like figure in the UK, likewise called the Democrats out for this:
I ended yesterday’s article[4] by stating that it’s the Democrats responsibility to lower the temperature, because it is an indisputable fact that they have raised it. And yet, they seem to have no ambition to do so
Many have made the same point: you can’t call Donald Trump Hitler and then wish the best for him.
As a friend of mine said recently, There is a reason it’s “If you could go back and kill BABY Hitler, would you?” and not, “If you could kill Hitler, would you?” The later is taken as a given.
And in case anyone questions if the Left calls Trump Hitler, here is Keith Olbermann saying that Trump is “Our Hitler” two days after the attempt on Trump’s life (sorry for the language, it’s not mine)
Of all the talk of caring about rhetoric,[5] it seems as though those on the Left are the most militant in their language. They have called for Trump to be “eliminated,” and they almost got what they wanted on July 13.
There appears to be little care on the part of Leftists for Corey Comperatore: father, fire fighter, and dreaded “MAGA Republican.” Maybe Biden’s labeling has something to do with that?
Biden has consistently preached that Trump and his supporters are “a threat to our Democracy,” and are “a clear and present threat to our Democracy.”
Yet, there is something that remains unanswered by Biden and the Left. It is the answer to a question that hasn’t been asked enough: what do the Democrats mean by “Democracy?” Apparently, some on the Left think they almost got their “Democracy” on the 13th of July.
I wonder who else thinks the same thing? Maybe everyone who called Trump a threat to our Democracy believes that having him gone means that we have Democracy? I wonder what you think…
Of course, I have my own answer to what I know to be the Left’s definition of Democracy. It shouldn’t be that hard to figure out, if you look in the right places, and listen to helpful voices. Afterall, MANY of the Left are claiming that we will remember this season as “The Summer Democracy Died.”
But I’d rather talk to people individually, than just spell out what I know. If you reach out, I will be more than happy to talk with you about these subjects.
